RJSD is teamed with KPFF on several Multi-Unit Affordable Housing projects in San Francisco that are currently under design. RJSD is the Local Business Engineer (LBE) subconsultant on these projects, and works integrally with KPFF to develop a cohesive design between two firms. These projects are done with various non-profit developers to address the serious issue of affordable housing in San Francisco.
Shirley Chisholm Educator Housing
This project on SFUSD-owned land is intended to help SFUSD attract and retain qualified teachers by addressing the issue of housing affordability in San Francisco. RJSD is responsible for the design of the four stories of Type V construction above the one-story Type I construction. We worked closely with KPFF to ensure a seamless flow of design information. Balboa Reservoir – Building E
Balboa E is a new building that is part of the new master plan at Balboa Reservoir, which is next to City College. The 124 unit building is one of several new buildings around the new Reservoir Park, which is the centerpiece of this new mixed-income development. This eight-story project will create 73 new homes for prenatal homeless women. The building is of concrete construction with post-tensioned floor slabs, special reinforced concrete shear walls, and a mat foundation.
